Brief work description:
The position require a matured person who has consistent working experience in mechanical engineering of static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, equipment structures in Engineering department and has handled projects with sound technical back ground and responsibilities in detail engineering,, check client specifications, review and control of fabrication engineering of vendor designs, review vendor procedures, quality and inspection packages and ensure delivery of right equipment supplied in accordance with the specifications. Also need to assist construction site to resolve issues when arise on static equipment and when modifications on existing equipment at site.

Senior Piping Stress Analysis Engineer

To act as key person of the project as designated by Piping Department Manager and Lead Piping Engineer and performs the function inherent to this position. Responsible for piping thermal stress/vibration analysis, and preparation of piping layout. Has the technical responsibility for interpreting and evaluating stress/vibration result, for reviewing piping layout, and piping information. He/She will also be responsible for reviewing piping engineering progress against approved schedule, for evaluating changes and taking corrective action when required, for providing technical guidance, and for organizing, executing and coordinating these responsibilities to ensure timely completion and meets project schedule and budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• To study ITB, project and design basis such as scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specification, client standard drawings, existing drawings, and plot plan through the guidance of Senior Piping.
• To assist in planning and organizing piping engineering activities and manpower requirement for the project.
• To assist in developing piping engineering and design schedule, manpower requirements, manhour distribution and execution plan based on the scope of work and approved budget manhour/schedule.
• To coordinate piping mechanical analysis and engineering effort with other area Lead Engineers and disciplines of the project as directed by Piping Design Supervisor.
• To prepare specification for mechanical analysis, piping support standard drawings, and execution procedures for mechanical stress analysis.
• To develop piping layout and piping information of major critical equipment of the project such as tower/column, airfin coolers, heaters, compressors, and reactors, preferably in 3D CAD format.
• To check and review thermal stress/vibration analysis data inputs/output, piping layout, piping information prepared by engineers, and interprets and evaluates stress/vibration analysis result and provides necessary recommendation on resolving the method of analysis for compliance to project standards or specifications, applicable codes, contract requirements, quality standards and accepted engineering and construction practices.
• To provide field engineering support/advice towards piping installation and testing at construction site.
• To perform the function inherent to piping Key person as designated by Piping Department Manager and Lead Piping Engineer.
• To evaluate the performance of and provide counseling and guidance to members of the project.
• To identify and recommend training programs including cross training of piping staff within the team in collaboration with the Department Manager.
• To prepare lesson learned upon completion of the project and recommends preventive actions to avoid recurrence on future projects to Piping Design Supervisor.
• To perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Department Manager and Lead Piping Engineer.
• To carry out engineering support work during the construction phase of the project.

Requirements:
• Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of eight (8) years in the field of piping engineering involving detailed design, stress evaluation, 3D modeling and review, and three (3) years of which in a supervisory capacity.

Skill Requirements:
• Ability to use computer equipment and peripherals to carry out routine computing and 2D/3D CAD tasks. Ability to adapt with changes due to upgrading of computer software.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD/Cad Pipe and Microstation 2D CAD
• Basic knowledge of 3D modeling thru PDS/SP3D or related software
• Knowledge of stress/vibration operation and analysis
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts in piping calculations such as exponents, logarithms, trigonometric functions, quadratic equations and other applicable formulas.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical information, reports and instructions. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients and ability to write effective minutes of meeting and other related business communication.
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction personnel to arrive at planning schedules for multi discipline projects and plant modifications in various stages of development by implementing advanced planning and scheduling techniques. Also to monitor and control Project cost using detailed cost estimate to measure progress and performance.

KEY COORDINATION AND RELATIONSHIPS:

• Project Management Team (PMT), Construction Team, Procurement Group and Engineering divisions.

• Discipline Managers, Key Personnel and Project Engineers

• Client and Subcontractors

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Procurement and Project groups to review the scope of work in terms of deliverables to be submitted to the client, to finalize schedules to be met, and utilize resources required as per contract.

• Perform schedule monitoring and updating of project schedule, preparation of periodic Progress Reports with commitments & forecasts.

• Apply pro-active approach to identify schedule deviations and propose/recommend corrective action/ work around solutions to ensure project progress.

• Establish Pre-commissioning/Commissioning Schedules and review of work progress.

• Collect and evaluate data required to monitor project schedules, progress measurement and to prepare cost reports.

• Constantly monitoring the working budget, forecasting the final cost to complete for each category of work and managing change control.

• Prepare cost reports, MH reports, perform cost analysis, and recommend corrective actions and follow-up.

• Analyse Subcontractor s progress report, identify and highlight schedule deviations and delay.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree with extensive Project Control experience on major projects working in a Contractor Environment is preferable.

• Excellence in Microsoft Excel and Primavera version 6 applications

• Familiar with standard software programs, developing S-Curve Schedule, bar-charts and manpower histogram.

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Brownfield and Greenfield facilities, preferably with EPCm contractors. South East Asia experience on similar projects would be an added advantage.

• Demonstrated success in past project involvement and technical delivery of small to medium size projects.

• Possesses wide and diversified knowledge of project control system, scheduling and costing techniques in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry.

• Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment, with wide exposure to various cultures and customs.

• Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) with ability to interact across multiple disciplines.

• Shall be fully conversant with the use of PC s and appropriate software applications.
